The Doidge Angel picture was found on some film Danny Sullivan purchased at a British junk shop.Accompanying the film were several letters from the 1950s that related stories of angel sightings dating back to World War I.The letters had belonged to William Doidge who had written about an American soldier named Doug whose friend had seen an angel appear above a Gloucestershire lake prior to twenty soldiers dying there in a bridge collapse. Doidge searched Woodchester Mansion for the angel and in 1952, he captured this amazing angel picture.

The story is very interesting and I’m really happy that the guy is alive.I believe in Angels, so if you ask me I will say that this guy definitely had a guardian Angel with him those days.

Kenneth Jones, 27, from Manchester, was climbing alone and had no mobile phone when an avalanche swept him 75ft from a rock while climbing in the Fagaras Mountains near Brasov in central Romania.

Suffering from a fractured skull, broken leg and other injuries, Mr Jones was unable to walk. He crawled on his arms and hands in temperatures as low as -15C for nearly 100 hours, drinking melting snow to survive.

“It is incredible that he is still alive,” a police spokesman said. “He had lost his shoes and had just a T-shirt and trousers and was covered in blood and bruises.”

Mr Jones eventually reached the village of Sumerna, where he was found by a family, who called an ambulance to take him to the first of three hospitals. He was admitted in a coma and it was several hours before he could be revived.

Doctors at the County Hospital in Brasov said Mr Jones had suffered frostbite as well as fractures to his skull, pelvis and right leg, but that his life was no longer in danger.

His family was said to have arrived in Romania to take him home when he is fit to travel. Andy Palmer, a spokesman for the British embassy in Bucharest, said his parents did not yet want to talk about their son’s miraculous escape.

Mr Jones, a student, had apparently won a competition for a climbing holiday in Romania and had travelled alone to the region, staying at the Elvis Hotel in Brasov. Police said he had set off on Monday to climb the 7,000ft Mount Transfagarasan, the highest peak in the Fagaras range, after hearing of its spectacular views.

“He left Brasov on Monday without letting anyone know his plans. When he did not return, hotel staff raised the alert, worried because he had left behind his passport,” the officer said.

“With little idea of where he had gone we organised a search party to cover a 30 sq mile area on some of the main walks, but with temperatures of -15C, we didn’t expect him to be alive. He had none of the proper equipment.”

Opris Niricei, a Romanian rescue worker, said Mr Jones had initially been taken to two hospitals, but the doctors at both had said he was so badly injured that they did not have the facilities to treat him.

“They were worried that they would then have to take responsibility if he died,” said Mr Niricei. “He was accepted only when the ambulance drove to Brasov. I have to say that even before then, he was extremely lucky to be alive. The village at which he turned up is not normally inhabited in the winter.

“The family who found him saved his life. They had driven there from Bucharest to do some repairs on their property and were the only people for miles around. They undoubtedly saved his life. “
